Our Church

The Parish of the Nativity is a Catholic Christian community, commissioned by baptism, nourished by the Eucharist, empowered by the Holy Spirit, redeemed by Jesus Christ and living for the glory of God. We are a parish in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Salford in the United Kingdom. The parish was formed in 2019 by the amalgamation of the former parishes of the Immaculate Conception (St. Mary’s), Failsworth, and Holy Family, Hollinwood. The parish is administered from the Clive Road site in Failsworth.

St Mary's (though the correct title is 'Immaculate Conception') which is on Clive Road,  was built in 1964.  Before that we were down on Oldham Road for over a hundred Years!   The present church is very beautiful  with lots of light and space  -  and some wonderful stained glass windows.  We love our church very much and our parishioners take great  care of it - cleaning, decorating, keeping it perfect.

St Mary's is a very happy School and Parish and we have a great deal to thank God for - we are blessed in so many ways.

Our Parish Priest

Canon Michael Job is our parish priest.  He arrived at St Mary's in July 2017 and is enjoying getting to know the school and parish community.  He has worked in parishes and works full time as well at the diocesan tribunal.

Mass

We have two Masses on Sunday - 9.30am and 6.00pm.

Weekday Masses are usually at 9.15am.

We are particularly keen on singing and music and the Sunday morning Mass is really wonderful - we sing everything in sight!! And at the evening Mass too - some great voices in Failsworth!

Activities

St Mary's has all the regular parish activities, but we are particularly pleased to be involved with the Oldham Food Bank - to which the parishioners send a regular weekly collection of various foods etc.

We are also involved with Cornerstone Drop-in Centre where again we have a regular contribution.
