St Mary's Science Rationale

At St. Mary’s, we encourage children to be inquisitive throughout their time at our school and beyond. Science is the most powerful method we have for understanding and explaining the natural world that God has gifted to us. Science fosters a healthy curiosity in children about our universe and promotes respect for the living and non-living.

Through the careful planning of an exciting and progressive curriculum, we believe that our children are exposed to a wide range of scientific knowledge, conceptual understanding, skills and positive attitudes. The children are able to make links with existing concepts, have the opportunity to develop their own ideas, assisting in gaining a greater understanding of the science of our wonderful world.
