Reception Gallery of Events 2019-20

Take a look at some of the fun things we have been doing in Reception.

Lent - March 2020

During Lent, our Reception children have made promises to get physically, mentally and spiritually strong.  Our children enjoyed taking some time out of their busy day to visit our Prayer Garden for some quiet reflection time.

World Book Day - March 2020

The children in Reception were very excited to show off their Roald Dahl inspired costumes and they all looked amazing!  The children enjoyed a fun filled day of reading activities.  They attended a 'Reading Cafe', where they will had the opportunity to sample a selection of Roald Dahl books before reviewing these stories with their friends.  At the end of the day, the children were read to by a 'surprise' teacher!  What a wonderful day!

Be Brave Day - February 2020

Our Reception children took part in lots of fun activities to mark 'Be Brave Day'.  The children had to be brave and fall back into their partners' arms.  They had to trust that their partner would catch them!  The children also led each other around an obstacle course, and were brave enough to hold and feel unknown objects, whilst being blindfolded.  Our class enjoyed sharing stories about times when they have been brave!  What a lovely afternoon!

Outdoor Maths - January 2020

Epiphany - January 2020

The children enjoyed learning about the Epiphany Story.  The children made and wore their regal crowns, as they attended Whole School Mass.

New Phonics Reading Scheme - January 2020

To launch our new Phonics Reading Scheme, the children in Reception enjoyed participating in a 'Cosy Read' Day!  The children dressed up in their pyjamas and shared stories with their parents and teachers.  Later, the children were visited by their friends in Year 1 to share more stories!  What a lovely day!

PE Lesson - September 2019

The children in our Reception classes enjoyed their P.E lesson outdoors.  The children enjoyed playing 'Bears and Honeypots', as they developed their ability to change direction at speed.  The children also enjoyed the 'bean bag toss relay race', as they worked hard to develop their gross motor skills.
